Have you ever had a teacher who was totally fascinated with the dictionary? Have you ever wanted to make a new word that everyone starts using the second they hear it? Have teachers ever yelled at you for using a word that’s appropriate and not harmful in any way? If so this may be the book for you. Frindle is about a boy named Nick Allen who started to call a pen a “Frindle” all the teachers got mad and held him back for detention. One of his teachers Mrs. Granger made him stay in for detention and had him write on a piece of paper “I am writing this punishment with a pen” a hundred times. But instead Nick wrote “I am writing this punishment with a Frindle” a hundred times. Find out what happens in this amazing book. Maybe Mrs. Granger turns out to be nice. Or maybe Nick Allen tries to stop everyone using the word Frindle. Find out very soon!!!

I enjoyed your blog. I can certainly relate to Mrs. Granger and her love of words. We have collected some great words on our word wall this year at school.
I enjoyed the ending of Frindle and think it is a really fun read.

Rachel,

I loved your blog! I loved the way I could make a connection to another book that I have read. I think that it was very brave of Nick to write "I'm writing this punishment with a frindle!" If I was him I wouldn't have done that, but I think that it was wrong of the teacher to give him detintion because it is his own oppinion! I can't wait to read this book and find out what happens to Nick Allen! :P
